Event Description
The annual Roskilde Festival is one of the biggest rock and pop music happenings in Europe. Started in 1970 and featuring just 20 bands, it attracted approximately 10,000 visitors. Today, the event has close to 200 bands performing on seven stages and draws crowds of about 75,000 over the weekend. It is so well-respected that it attracts big-name artists ranging from Bob Dylan and David Bowie to Cold Play and Robbie Williams. There is also a strong social and environmental ethos and some of the profit made by the organisers is ploughed back into humanitarian and cultural initiatives.
