Progression to HE - what works?

I am currently working with universities into what support HE can give to prospective students to help them progress into HE. This includes supporting schools and colleges in such areas as lowering tariffs and enrichment activities such as Summer schools. I am asking for your help about what you feel may work best – any feedback gratefully received.
