2. Manchester has some of the best bars in the country and there is something to suit everybody, so you have no excuse not to drink every night. Just make sure you don’t let studying slip though otherwise it could take you ten years to get a degree!
3. The lecturers at Salford are good, have a good knowledge of their topic and are very well organised. I was told before I went to university to expect it to be a shambles - in fact it's anything but.
4. Manchester has the busiest bus route in Europe along the Wilsmlow Road corridor, so if you get sick of living in Salford you can always move to Manchester and still have good transport links to the university.
5. Salford University is nearer to Manchester city centre than the University of Manchester is. It's only 15 minutes walk away from all the classy bars and shops of Deansgate.
6. Manchester also has some great clubs, from the scally pop music oriented clubs (strict dress codes, in these places, rubbish music, and nice friendly bottle-throwing locals) to the student-oriented indie clubs. Indie clubs are great with cheap booze, door prices and everybody tends to be quite a bit nicer.
7. The main student local of Salford, Castle Irwell, is just a few yards from Salford University's night club, the Pav.
8. Low living costs. Although many parts of Manchester are now quite expensive such as the suburban areas of Chorlton and Didsbury, Salford is among the cheaper areas, the local shopping centre is very cheap, with a can of Coke costing as little as 20p.
9. The university is one of the largest in the country with nearly 20,000 students. This means it has great leisure facilities such as its own swimming pool, gym and playing fields. It also has its own railway station which connects Salford to places such as Preston and Blackpool.
10. Manchester is only 30 minutes away by public transport from some of the most beautiful countryside in England, including Pennines. These hills are lovely and it’s a great place to go for a walk to get away from the hectic city life. The city itself is home to some great art galleries and museums. Salford Quays is also a beautiful place with the Lowry and Imperial War Museum North located there. This area has a very Liverpool feel to it.
